Last demo before summer

On 25 June, the EduXS team presented the demo of Iteration 12, being the final scheduled demo before the summer break. It also marked the end of a development phase with regular updates and the start of a new rhythm: continuing with “keep the lights on” capacity while moving forward step by step.

Development with limited resources

From 1 July onwards, development capacity will be limited. That means demos will only take place when there are meaningful updates to share. Still, progress continues. The development team welcomed two new contributors: Anantha Soenessardien as Data Manager, and Guy Briejer for data entry. Together, they will continue the work of adding and improving records on the platform.

Backend improvements

Several backend updates are now live:

  • Images are available in multiple formats, including thumbnails – useful for the frontend.
  • More attributes were added to “child” entities, so cards can now show richer information.
  • An MIT licence was added to the codebase, reinforcing EduXS’s open-source approach.
  • A script to export the source code is now available on request.
  • The API includes new filters for better control in the frontend.
  • An additional backup process is in place, complementing the platform’s existing backup mechanism.

Frontend updates: clarity and consistency

The frontend saw multiple usability and design enhancements:

  • Images are now shown consistently on cards and detail pages.
  • Internal status, scope, and country info are visible directly on cards.
  • Subtitles display full names where available.
  • The overview filtering bug was fixed.
  • Relationship chips are now only shown when relevant, making the interface cleaner.
  • Cards are more compact by default, with expandable sections accessible via a new menu.

What’s next?

This was the last scheduled demo before summer. Future demos will be organised whenever there’s enough progress to share. In the meantime, updates continue in the background – especially around data entry and quality.
